In 2016, I started collecting books about the sea. Two years later, in 2018, I opened the Sea Library here in our home by the Baltic Sea. There was a dream about a very special kind of encyclopedia when I was reading and collecting the first stories about the sea – before the library. The one that I could compose from the bits and pieces I find in the books. The Enseaclopedia, that’s what I called it. I have it in my notebooks, as scattered as shells on a tideline, and it will never be finished because it is always growing. And yet for it to be used and useful, in 2021 I started putting little thematic articles up online. Swimming through them like from island to island is also a great way how to discover books that you can borrow from the Sea Library anytime and from anywhere.
