Trust

On September 1st in Latvia, kids return to school. It’s a new start after long summer holidays: hopes, plans and pristine notebooks. An inspiring wish to learn something new.

For me, this September marks a new step ahead. I have silenced my Twitter and Instagram accounts for nine months at least. A tiny bit afraid to lose some Sea Library readers, and yet I believe in more meaningful forms of communication. I believe that my books will be found and the sea will be read. To put even more books on www.sea-library.com is one of many things I want to do with my time ahead. Another one is Nemo.

On August 26 I turned 39. Nearly a decade since I changed my life age 30 and moved to live by the sea. My niece Klaudija gave me this beautiful card for birthday with me and Nemo just like we are.

My border collie puppy, that I dreamed about for seven years and who was born on World Water Day, will be six months old this month. He will start his puppy school in a week. After that I plan to continue teaching him being a library dog. It will be a fun and adventurous journey. I want him to help young library visitors with reading difficulties. It will take some years to master canistherapy skill but it all starts today, on September 1, 2023. First steps taken of a long road in front of us. Long-term is my second skin.

My Sea Library journey has been peppered with moments when I have to trust. When I have to close my eyes and free-fall into water. Without trust there wouldn’t be this miraculous wonderworld of sea books uniting sea community all over the world.

This is one of those moments. With no social media noise for such a long time, I hope to build, to learn and to not to lose connection with those I have met online.

We are ready to reach new horizons. Will you come along?

Are you ready for autumn? I am.

Yours,
Anna
